Our new Lions President was recently inducted by PDG (Past District Governor) Liz Houston. Pieter Muyburg, accompanied by wife Janet, presented the president’s chain to Marinda Steenberg, wife of LPE (Lions President Elect) Tim Steenberg. In support of the “Lions World Wide Service for Hunger and Poverty Project”, the Wellington Lions donated funds to Moms for Wellington, a local charity providing meals to over 200 children during their Thursday meetings. The Wellington Lions also donated funds towards meals at the Newton Community Centre. This charity provides meals to around 35 retired pensioners twice a week. In May 2013, the late Almarie du Toit donated a number of yellow wood tree seedlings to the Wellington Lions Club. An environmentally conscious couple gave each guest at their wedding a yellow wood seedling as present. Unfortunately some overseas guests could not take their trees home and asked that Le Bac Estates (their wedding venue and Almarie’s employer at the time) donate them to a service organisation.
