Here are a few photos from our recent chicken braai. This is one of our annual fund raising projects and this year we prepared around 200 meals for our loyal supporters. The Wellington Lions provided safety marshals for this year’s PPA One Tonner. 20 Lions and 40 Lukhanyo marshals spent many hours in the blazing sun helping cyclists through intersections and keeping them safe. The Wellington Lions put in some time during the past weekend to act as marshals and to man (and women) water points along the 110 km and 72 km routes. A fresh wind made things interesting but no less fun for those worked or cycled. At our watering point everyone who stopped for a drink was upbeat and having a ball. The past weekend (6 – 7 October 2012) the Wellington Lions Club provided some assistance at the Engen Dynamic Cycle Challenge at Nelsons Creek Wine Estate just outside Wellington. The Gravel Travel Mountain Bike Championship takes place on dirt roads in and around the farms and vineyards of Wellington, crosses the Bainskloof Pass road and then heads towards Groenberg Mountain.
