Jukskei as a game is over 270 years old but still as much fun today as it was all those years ago. Every year members of the Wellington Lions Club, Voortrekkers, Rapportryers and ATKV get together to pitch their skills against each other. Here are some photos of the day:

With all our supplies, tools and equipment a few Wellington Lions took to the Porterville show grounds  on Saturday, August 24, to participate in the town’s 150 year celebrations, hosted by the Porterville Lions Club. There were surprisingly many entries – around 20+ stalls. We made a lamb neck potjie and rounded it off with rice and sweet potatoes. The annual bowls competition between the Paarl- and Wellington Lions Clubs was recently held at the Wellington Bowls Club. Rain stayed away while we competed, chatted with old friends and ate like kings in unseasonal cool summer weather. The victor, when all the scores were tallied, was the Wellington Lions Club, proud to restore our damaged pride after last year’s loss! Here are some  photos of the evening:

The Wellington Lions Club has been doing its part to clean up our town by running a long term project that sees Correctional Services supplying labour on weekends to walk the streets and clean up garbage. These workers are supervised and fed by members of the Lions Club. Every Saturday around 15 people work from early morning filling dozens of garbage bags. It is hard work spending hours in the Wellington sun and we rely on sponsors to supply...

The Vancouver Cambie Lions Club is around 15 years old and most of the 36 members are Chinese business people. The visit was a very pleasant experience with everyone very warm and welcoming. We plan to stay in touch.

Peninsula School Feeding Association’s Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk is now in its 44th year. The Walk began as a fundraiser for PSFA by Savio College in Landsdowne.
