Here are a few photos from our recent chicken braai. This is one of our annual fund raising projects and this year we prepared around 200 meals for our loyal supporters. Woensdag die 24ste September het die Lions die inwoners van Silwerkruin, Fyngoud en Huis Lizelle heerlik bederf met die jaarlikse Bingo verjaarsdag. Heerlike vrugteslaai en roomys is aan almal voorsien. Die 5 jarige Shiloh Cloete, van Dwergiebos, het almal vermaak met ‘n paar sang items en daarna het verskeie van die inwoners staaltjies vertel uit hul jonger dae. Almal het lekker gesellig gekuier en sien uit na volgende jaar se Bingo verjaarsdag.

Wellington Lions Club assisted with registrations and safety marshal placement at the recent Dirty Double Trail Run & MTB Race. In terms of scenery it doesn’t get much better than this. The event was hosted by the Kleinevalleij | Weddings and Conference Estate, a fantastic venue and as the photos show, a picture perfect location for participants and supporters alike. For very obvious reasons, we also call this our “Potjiekos Dag”. It is an inter-club outing when clubs in our district are invited to join us for a day in the countryside. It is a day when new friendships are forged and old ones are renewed. The day is very popular with everyone. Thanks to the lovely scenery in and around our beautiful town as well as our famous Wellington hospitality, our Lions friends return year after year. This year 170 Lions and Leos from 20 clubs sponsored their services as safety marshals at the Peninsula School Feeding Association’s Blisters for Bread walk. With the help of these volunteers this major annual event flowed smoothly around Sea Point, Cape Town. Thank you to the 12 000 walkers who participated this year! Your contributions will make a huge impact in the PSFA’s mission to feed hungry school children. read moreWellington Lions Club donates rain jackets to rural primary school
The Wellington Lions Club recently donated 95 rain jackets to all the learners of Voor Groenberg Primary School, on the outskirts of Wellington. The donation was made possible by funds raised during the Voetspore evening with Johan Badenhorst that was held earlier this year (2014). This project was also part of our “67 minutes for Mandela”. This farm school caters for grade R to grade 4 learners and currently has 5 full time teachers working with the children of local (some seasonal and therefore often unemployed) farm workers....
